Prior to launching Tweetajob, Carmen was Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition for Yahoo!. At Yahoo!, she led an award-winning team focused on the strategic application of sourcing programs, including event recruiting, employee referrals, employer branding, and sourcing skill development.
Prior to Yahoo!, Carmen was Manager, Global Strategic Sourcing, for Starbucks Coffee Corporation, and has held senior recruiting positions at other Fortune 500 companies, including: Microsoft, Amazon.com, and Capital One. She has presented at a national recruiting conferences and is active in the local recruiting community, having served as VP, Programs on the Board of Directors of the Seattle Employment Management Association.
She earned a B.S., Journalism from Northwestern University.
Kapenda has over 10 years of experience in software engineering as well as experience as an entrepreneur. Previous to Tweetajob, Kapenda was the Founder and CEO of Jookster Networks, the first of its kind Web 2.0 social search engine, making advancements in the area of RSS and aggregation of social data across the web. Being recognized by Dow-Jones as one of the 50 Emerging Early Technology companies in 2005. Prior to Jookster, Kapenda was responsible for Media Syndicator, the first product released from Loudeye Technologies, where he was Lead Software Architect. At Loudeye, Kapenda managed the overall architecture, design and development and successfully launched the first B2B syndication product for the streaming media market. Previous to Loudeye, Kapenda worked with the Web Based Enterprise Management team at Microsoft, developing proprietary tools and applications for performance in Microsoft COM+ Services. Kapenda holds a patent in the area of Digital Media Syndication and Distribution as well as several patents pending in the area of Search and Information Retrieval.
